Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often referred to as “forever chemicals”, have become one of the most pressing issues for the chemical industry in Europe. Ongoing work on a broad restriction of PFAS under the REACH regulation could affect thousands of compounds used in sectors such as electronics, textiles, packaging and aerospace. At the same time, the industry faces the challenge of developing alternative materials, adapting manufacturing processes and implementing new technologies for environmental remediation.
